Project Brief and Target Audience
This project is to design an exhibition catalog for an exhibition based on critical analysis and research completed at the beginning of the quarter. I choose Herbert Bayer’s essay “on typography” to start my research and decide to focus on his influences in the modern graphic design field. Through research, I learned that Herbert Bayer’s design style has a significant effect on modern graphic design. This exhibition catalog introduced four graphic design masters affected by Bayer and their works. The target audiences are SCAD students, educators, designers, and museum members.

Design Layout and Development
I choose to use holography as a pivotal element to present this exhibition because today’s graphic design has stepped into the information era, and the theory Bayer promoted is still helpful. The holography appears in the cover of the exhibition catalog, digital poster, souvenirs, and the envelope, representing the contribution that Herbert Bayer’s theory brings to modern graphic design.
