Overview
SafeReturn is a simple tool to monitor and protect your workforce and mitigate risk. It‘s a secure online application to help keep organizations healthy and safe from the coronavirus. It offers comprehensive analytics and is completely customizable to meet specific wellness strategies.
SafeReturn is a powerful tool in mitigating risks and alleviating anxieties as part of your organization’s overall back-to-work strategies and contingency plans.
Background
2020 is a tough year for both organizations and employees. As non-essential workplaces look forward to re-opening and essential workplaces continue operations, employers are forced to deal with the new-normal of COVID-19. Stay-at-home orders and business closures have been instrumental in slowing the spread of the virus, but no amount of time can truly eradicate it from our population. It’s difficult to know the exact right thing to do at the right moment.

My role was to work with a creative director, a product manager and the development team, mainly working on wireframes, prototypes, and UI design assets.

Considerations
The way that people normally do is to follow the sign and self check before they went to public space like supermarket, clinic, buildings, etc. So we think starting with a series of survey questions that help people easily self diagnosis their symptoms beforehand, especially when they need to go back to office, if they passes the questions, they could go back, but if someone failed, we can suggest them to stay at home.

How does it work

Survey questions
While the SafeReturn platform provides standard survey questions to identify at-risk employees, we also provide our admin users to easily customize their own questions to meed their needs.
If an employee answers yes to any of the initial wellness questions, they are required to complete a follow-up survey to better identify their symptoms and wellness risks.

Sample standard questions include:
-
Have you been suspected, diagnosed or confirmed with COVID-19?
-
Has anyone in your household been diagnosed with or suspected to have COVID-19?
-
Have you experienced any of these (list provided) symptoms?
-
Have you traveled in the past 14 days?

UI Design Assets
Ethnic icon
During one of our userbility test, there is a feedback that we need to show the faces of different race, so we provide a series of ethic icons for organization admin user to show to their employees, students or parents.

Design Decisions
Onboarding flow
The link/account the users received is based on organizations, which means it's not for public, so admin user will see their result via the organization dashboard. We believe by doing this will be easier for organizations to reduces workplace risks for employees, facility workers and visitors.
Taking survey flow
This is a sample for schools in the Loveland district. In this scenario, we would ask the parents to take the survey for their kids. The survey questions here can be edited or settled by the administrations of the district.
Result screen
These are result screens, when the user passes the questions, it will show the green screen with the user's name, location, and date info. And we also set a full-screen mode for easier recognization. But if the user fail the survey, it will show the at-risk screen to stop the user to enter the buildings. The result will also be shared with the admin of the district.

Analytics Admin-Dashboard
As we moving forward, we figure out it is necessary to develop a dynamic dashboard for the admin to check the status of users in the district.
Statistics screen
In the statistics screen, we broke the page into 3 sections. To follow the users' habit, we made the left section as filter area. The upper right area is data visualization sections based on responses to the survey questions. We made several charts on different data, and it will show rapidly on this page. In the bottom right area, it will show an assessment list which automatically shows by when it was submitted and an affected school list specific for our test Loveland district. We also made a filter on each column for admin user to quickly search the data they want.

People screen
In the people screen, we need to show user's most recent 5 results on status column. The initial design was shown as 5 solid dots, but when we test this screen on Loveland district, it came up a problem about ambiguous on which side was the most recent. Some user thought the order from the latest to farest was from left to right, while others thought opposite. To solve this ambiguous, I set the transparency as 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% and make a hover layer to show detail for a specific status.
We also set an user page to allow admin user to click on individual people to check his/her recent activity and remind them to take the survey.

Question screen
The question screen is designed for admin user to customize the survey questions to be shown to their users. We also provide 4 skin tones icon combination. The admin can choose a proper ethinic icon to display on the survey.

Admin-Setting screen
In setting screen, the admin users can change the information of organization, manage admin users, change password, send message to individual users, and manage
